Bowie County Court Docket Searches
For felony cases, district civil, family, and County Court at Law matters, begin at the Bowie County District Clerk page. From there you can reach the county's Tyler search destination and the county calendar. Treat the Tyler portal as an index only. Bowie County itself warns you. It does not allow document viewing, and the live system can throw an error. So guess nothing about its search fields. Bring the full cause number whenever you can.
Working from a name alone? Check the spelling, the court, the date range, and the case type. City citations, JP cases, probate files, federal cases, and district lawsuits each live in separate indexes. A blank result proves one thing only: that one search came back empty.
- Read the court name on the citation, notice, or filing.
- Use the official portal or calendar linked by that court.
- Search the exact cause or citation number before a broad name search.
- Compare the case index with the latest hearing setting.
- Call, visit, or mail the responsible clerk when online access stops short.
- Request a specific docket sheet, order, disposition, or certified copy.
Bowie Docket Route Starts With Custody
The word "court" will not route a Bowie County record by itself. The District Clerk holds district and County Court at Law case files. The County Clerk keeps probate, guardianship, real property, vital records, and its other services. JP clerks handle precinct cases. Municipal clerks keep city Class C and ordinance matters. Appeals go to the Sixth Court of Appeals. Federal questions belong to the Eastern District of Texas, its bankruptcy court, and PACER.
| Question | First Official Route | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Felony, district civil, family, or CCL case | District Clerk | Portal does not provide document viewing. |
| Probate or real property | County Clerk | Not the District Clerk case system. |
| Traffic, small claim, debt, or eviction | Issuing JP or city court | No unified county traffic docket was found. |
| State appeal | Sixth Court of Appeals | Separate appellate record. |
| Federal or bankruptcy case | PACER and federal clerk | Separate federal fees and access rules. |
Choosing the custodian first prevents false negative searches and payments to the wrong office.
Court Dockets: What They Show
In Bowie County, the word docket gets stretched across several different things. It may mean an online index, a case-history register, a daily hearing list, a linked PDF, a document, a judgment, or a payment account. Those are related, but they are not equal. The county calendar tells you when an event is set. The Tyler index can aid discovery when available. A clerk copy delivers the actual filing or signed order.
| Cause Number | The court identifier, often with a year, sequence, and suffix; copy it exactly. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Names in a civil or criminal case, subject to access and redaction limits. |
| Entries | Filings, motions, service events, orders, or other recorded activity. |
| Setting | The date, time, court, place, and type of scheduled hearing. |
| Disposition | The final court action, best confirmed through a signed judgment or order. |
| Documents | Pleadings and orders that may require a clerk request even when indexed. |
A calendar appearance is not a conviction, a ruling, or a final judgment. Read the later entries and pull the underlying record before you describe any outcome.
Six Meanings of Bowie Docket
Search language causes plenty of local mistakes. One person's "docket" is another's payment screen. Depending on who says it, the word can mean the full chronological register, a single day's calendar, the list of cases set before one court, a filing entry, or the underlying court file itself. Bowie County spreads all of these layers across separate tools.
- Case index
- A discovery result showing basic case information.
- Docket sheet
- The chronological register of events entered in one case.
- Calendar
- A schedule of hearings or docket calls by date.
- Docket PDF
- A grouped list for a particular court event, not necessarily the full register.
- Disposition
- The recorded final result, which should be verified from the signed record.
- Payment page
- A transaction tool that may show an amount but is not a document archive.
Ask for the item by its name. "Final judgment in cause number X" routes far more easily than a vague request for "all docket records."
Bowie County Courts and Their Dockets
Three district courts sit in Bowie County: the 5th, the 102nd, and the 202nd. Each one takes district-level criminal, civil, and family cases. They follow Texas statutes and local assignment rules. A separate statutory court, the County Court at Law, handles its own misdemeanor docket. Those misdemeanor records are filed with the District Clerk. So in Bowie County, "County Court at Law" still points you to the District Clerk. It does not point to the County Clerk.
| Court | Docket Covers | Access Point |
|---|---|---|
| 5th, 102nd, and 202nd District Courts | Felony, civil, family, and assigned proceedings | District Clerk, Tyler index, and court calendars |
| County Court at Law | Misdemeanor and locally assigned matters | District Clerk and CCL page |
| Justice courts | Traffic, small claims, debt, eviction, and fine-only matters | Correct precinct clerk |
| Municipal courts | City Class C and ordinance cases | Issuing city court |
| Sixth Court of Appeals | State appellate matters from the region | State appellate system |
The Eastern District of Texas and its bankruptcy court form a federal overlay over the county system. Their cases never appear as county district-court cases.
Bowie Docket Portal Limits
The county Tyler portal and re:SearchTX play different roles. Bowie County's portal is the local destination the District Clerk links, and the county expressly says it does not allow viewing documents. re:SearchTX works differently: an account-based statewide service whose official guide describes Cases, Filings, Text, and Hearings searches, plus filters, saved searches, and export features.
| Route | Strength | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Bowie Tyler | Official local case-search destination | Fields were unavailable during the observed error; no document viewing |
| County calendar | Date, phrase, past-event, and calendar controls | Settings are not full case histories |
| re:SearchTX | Statewide account-based discovery | Coverage and document access require local confirmation |
| eFileTexas | Electronic filing and service | Not a public case-search portal |
Use the official referring page, record the date you searched, and verify any critical result with the clerk.
Court Dates and Settings in Bowie County
The Bowie County calendar lets you set start and end dates, search a phrase, and pick a calendar. You can turn on a past-events option. You can also switch among List, Week, or Month views. Some event pages link a docket PDF. A 202nd criminal sample identifies a court event. It includes a cause, defendant, alleged offense, jail-status snapshot, and setting label.
Search a broad enough date range to catch a reset. Choose the District Clerk calendar or All Calendars as needed. Enable past events for historical settings. Then confirm the date, time, building, courtroom, and remote format. Municipal and JP settings can sit outside the county calendar.
Court activity happens in New Boston and Texarkana. A setting at the Bi-State Justice Building is not automatically at the New Boston courthouse. Check before you go. The Bowie County court schedule walks through the full calendar workflow.
Two Bowie Docket Locations
The District Clerk and County Clerk both list 710 James Bowie Drive, New Boston, Texas 75570. The Bi-State Justice Building sits at 100 North State Line Avenue in Texarkana. It houses several court-related functions. An official criminal docket sample carries the Bi-State heading. State law also permits certain nonjury district proceedings in Texarkana.

Verify the court, room, and entrance.
Never travel on the county name alone. Match the court title and location printed on the current setting, then call when the sources conflict.
Docket Access Under Texas Law
Access depends on what kind of record you want. Ordinary case records, court administrative records, sealed files, and confidential categories are scattered across rules. They do not all answer to one request law. Texas Government Code section 552.0035 directs judiciary access to Supreme Court rules. Other applicable law also governs. Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 addresses judicial records within its scope. Sealed court records get their own framework. Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 76a supplies it within its scope.
Key Texas access rules
Texas Government Code ยง 552.0035 points judiciary records questions to court rules and other law.
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 provides request, cost, denial, and review procedures for covered judicial records.
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 76a addresses sealing and access for records within the rule.
Juvenile, family, protective-order, sealed, expunged, and nondisclosed matters call for added caution. And public availability never makes needless personal identifiers fair game for republication.
Bowie Docket Numbers Are Not Equal
A cause number is its own animal. It is not a police report number, citation number, property instrument number, or federal case number. The Bowie criminal sample shows cause-number patterns with a year, a sequence, and a court-related suffix, while also displaying related agency numbers. Copy every letter, hyphen, and suffix.
| Number | Record System | Best First Use |
|---|---|---|
| Cause number | District, CCL, or JP case file | Search the responsible court or clerk |
| Citation number | Municipal or JP ticket | Use the issuing court's portal or clerk |
| Police or agency number | Law-enforcement record | Do not assume it searches the court index |
| Instrument number | County Clerk property record | Use the real-property route |
| Federal case number | Federal district or bankruptcy case | Use PACER and the federal court |
A live cause number belongs only in the system that asks for it. Never post real Bowie County identifiers as samples.
How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records
The District Clerk holds the main Bowie County district case records. The same office holds County Court at Law case records. One office page gives separate contacts. You can reach civil filing, felony matters, misdemeanors, child support, and records searches. Doors open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Staff will walk you through record procedures. The county's pro se notice bars them from giving legal advice.
You can start a request online, in person, by phone, or by mail. Include the cause number, court, case style, and document type. Add the rough date, copy format, and your contact details. Payment comes before release, per the FAQ. Mail requests take checks or money orders under current office procedure. Certified, redacted, archived, or oversized files may need extra time.

Bowie Docket Copy Costs
Filing, service, searching, copying, and certification each carry their own charge. Under the District Clerk fee schedule effective January 1, 2026, a new civil or family case costs $350. Many actions on existing cases run $80. Those figures are filing fees, not the cost of every record request.
| Published Item | Amount | Check Before Paying |
|---|---|---|
| New civil or family filing | $350 | Case type and added issuance or service |
| Many existing-case actions | $80 | Exact action in the current schedule |
| Electronic copies up to ten pages | $1 | Additional pages listed at $0.10 each |
| Printed copies | $1 per page | Certification and search charges |
| Record search | $5 per name | Whether the named office and request qualify |

City-by-City Court Dockets in Bowie County
Municipal courts handle each city's Class C misdemeanors, traffic cases, and ordinance matters apart from county district and JP files. The five largest incorporated places, per official population figures, are Texarkana, Wake Village, New Boston, Nash, and De Kalb. Every city sets its own contacts. Search and payment limits differ too.
Texarkana Court Records
36,193 residents in 2020. The city court offers contact and payment routes, not a confirmed public document viewer.
Wake Village Court Records
5,945 residents in 2020. The dated state directory is the main confirmed court-contact source.
New Boston Court Records
The city reports 4,548 with an unusual census label. Its municipal payment route is separate from the county courthouse.
Nash Court Records
3,338 in the planning figure. Nash provides several municipal citation search options.
De Kalb Court Records
1,527 residents in 2020. City and state directory phone numbers differ, so verify before paying.
Hooks, Maud, and Redwater also run municipal courts but sit outside the selected top-five city set. Send any ticket to the issuing city or JP listed on the citation.
Bowie Docket History and Technology
Bowie County records now live across many layers. There is paper, microfilm, clerk counters, and county PDFs. Tyler case search, electronic filing, re:SearchTX, remote hearings, and city payment vendors add more. The District Clerk gives two key dates. Civil e-filing became mandatory in July 2015. Criminal e-filing followed in January 2019. Filing through eFileTexas sends material to a court. It does not create a public document viewer.
Older records may take an archival route. The Texas State Library's Bowie County guide notes record moves. It also notes a fire that left some early series incomplete. Do not mistake a historical courthouse drawing or microfilm entry for the current courthouse or a complete modern index.
When you request an old file, state the court, the parties, and the approximate year. Give the record type and any known cause number too. Ask whether the material is still with the clerk. It may have moved to storage, sit on microfilm, or need an archive. Report gaps in a historical series as gaps. They do not prove an event never happened.
Modern tools shift over time. County DocumentCenter links can gain new identifiers, fee schedules gain effective dates, and directories can conflict with local pages. Save the official referring page along with the vendor destination. For a time-sensitive matter, trust a current clerk confirmation over an old saved copy.
The layered system works when each source does its proper job. Calendars serve settings, indexes serve discovery, and clerk files hold documents. Certified copies give official proof. Archives hold older material. Keep a search log with the URL, the date, the court, your terms, and the result. A later correction or follow-up becomes much easier that way.
Map and Directions to the Bowie County District Clerk
District Court files for the 5th, 102nd, and 202nd District Courts, along with County Court at Law misdemeanor and civil matters, are kept by the District Clerk at 710 James Bowie Drive in New Boston. Some nonjury district proceedings, including a 202nd District Court criminal docket sample reviewed for this site, are instead held at the Bi-State Justice Building in Texarkana, so confirm the hearing building before traveling to a setting.

The same 710 James Bowie Drive building also houses the County Clerk, whose hours run only to 4:30 p.m. with a noon-to-1:00 lunch closure and certificate service stopping at 4:00 p.m., so do not assume the District Clerk's 8:00-to-5:00 schedule applies countertop to countertop. For any Texarkana setting, verify the exact court, room, and entrance in advance, since the Bi-State building also houses JP, probation, and Sixth Court of Appeals functions.
